Our Little Family Travel Blog

Exploring the World as a Family

Travel has always been a huge part of our lives. Before becoming parents, we spent years exploring new destinations, discovering hidden gems, and creating unforgettable memories. When Theo arrived, one of our biggest hopes was that our love of travel wouldn’t stop – it would simply evolve.

Many parents worry that travelling with a baby or toddler will be difficult, but our experience has shown that adventures simply look a little different. Slower mornings, more snack stops, and plenty of opportunities to appreciate the little things through Theo’s eyes.

This section of Wings & Wonders by Emma follows our own family adventures, sharing honest experiences, tips, recommendations and memories from the places we’ve visited together. If you’re wondering whether travelling with little ones is worth it, the answer from us is a resounding yes.

Sabden, Lancashire – Our First Family Staycation

We’ve just come back from the loveliest little getaway in 𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗱𝗲𝗻, and it was everything we hoped for (and more!). 🏡💛

We spent a few days exploring 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗲, 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗻, and 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘆 — where we couldn’t resist visiting 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗹𝗹, home of the famous witches 🧙‍♀️. The views were incredible, the walks were perfect, and the countryside charm made it such a peaceful escape. 🌄

𝗕𝗮𝗯𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗼 absolutely loved his first trip — so many smiles, naps, and cuddles! 👶💕 And of course, 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗲 had the time of her life with all the new walks, sniffs, and adventures! 🐾❤️

We’d definitely recommend both 𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗱𝗲𝗻 itself and the 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 we stayed in — it was the perfect home-from-home. The village is absolutely gorgeous and has such a lovely, friendly feel. 🌸

If you’re ever in the area, make sure to stop by Sanwitches cafe sabden — a fabulous little café serving up delicious treats and the warmest welcome ☕🍰 — and sabdensmash for quite literally the burger of a lifetime! 🍔🔥

Already dreaming about our next family escape! ✈️💛

Inverfarigaig, Scotland – Highland Adventures

Before Christmas, we took 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐨 up to the 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 to spend some precious time with my dad, his partner, and grandparents — and it was truly one for the memory books 🤍

The Highlands are 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫, but there’s something extra special about seeing them in the lead-up to Christmas. The mountains, lochs, winding roads and quiet beauty make you slow down and really take it all in.

Even the journey itself was part of the adventure. Although it was around 𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬, the scenery along the way was absolutely stunning — every mile bringing something new to look at.

And I have to say… 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐨 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫 ⭐️

At just 𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐨𝐥𝐝, he couldn’t have been better behaved, reminding me that travel with little ones is always worth it — memories like these are priceless.

Trips like this are exactly why I love travel so much. It’s not always about flying far — sometimes it’s about 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞, one journey at a time 🤍

Alcudia, Mallorca – Our First Family Holiday Abroad

In May 2026, we took the plunge and embarked on our first family holiday abroad together, heading to the beautiful resort of Alcudia in Mallorca.

After months of planning (and perhaps a little overthinking!), the trip exceeded every expectation. We stayed at the incredible Zafiro Palace Alcudia, a hotel that genuinely understands what families need whilst still offering a touch of luxury for the grown-ups.

From baby-friendly dining options and spacious accommodation to fantastic pools and exceptional service, every detail made travelling with a toddler feel easy. The hotel even provided thoughtful touches that made bottle preparation and family life abroad simple and stress-free.

One of our favourite things about Alcudia was how much there was to explore. The charming old town, bustling marina, beautiful beaches and family-friendly atmosphere made it the perfect destination for our first trip overseas as a family.

Most importantly, it showed us that travelling with a young child doesn’t mean compromising on quality or experiences. It simply means seeing the world through a new perspective.

Where Next?

Our family travel story is only just beginning.

As Theo grows, we’ll continue sharing our adventures, family-friendly recommendations, honest reviews and travel tips right here on Wings & Wonders by Emma.

Whether you’re planning your first trip with a baby, a toddler-friendly beach holiday, or simply looking for inspiration for your next family adventure, we hope our experiences help show that travelling with children can be every bit as magical as travelling before them.

Because the best souvenirs aren’t the things we bring home – they’re the memories we create along the way.
